Bagini Glacier trek is situated in the Garhwal Himalayas region. It is situated at an altitude of 14,800 feet above sea level and the view from up here is breathtaking. It covers a distance of 43 km on a whole.
This is one of the easiest of all treks in Uttarakhand. The trails are clear and easy to walk on and also the mount is not very steep. The Bagini Glacier trek starts from Jumma village, which is a few km from Joshimath. Joshimath is a small town in Uttarakhand.
The glorious views of beautiful snow-capped Dunagiri peak, Changa Banga peak, and Kalanka peak are mesmerizing. Trekkers are amazed by the beauty of the trek. Further west, it is joined by the Lampak stream and finally flows into the Dhauli-Ganga just north of Jumma Village.
In lower camp, you don’t face any temperature-related issue but in higher camps, you have to dress yourself in layers. The reason is, In higher camps the day time, the temperature will be above 0 degrees and during the night it would be 0 to -6 degrees.

Haridwar to Joshimath
The journey of this trek starts from Haridwar. It takes 8-9 hours to reach Joshimath from Haridwar. The distance is approx. 295 Km.
Joshimath to Jumma & trek to Ruing village (3 km)
After reaching to Joshimath, you have to reach Jumma. Jumma is a village from where your trek starts. It 1.-2 hours to reach Jumma from Joshimath. The distance is about 42 Km. approx.
Ruing Village to Dronagiri Village (8 km)
The next step is to reach Dronagiri Village which is 8 Km far from Ruing Village. The initial path is easy to walk. But after covering a few km the landslide zone begins which is muddy and slippery.
Dronagiri village to Longatulli (6 km)
This is the place from where the first views of Rishi Peak and Bagini Nala are visible.
Langatuli to Bagini Basecamp ( 5 km)
You have to trek 5 km more to rech Bagini base camp.
Bagini Base camp to Bagini Glacier (10 km)
This is the final step which is approx 10 km from Bagini Base camp to Bagini Glacier.

What To Pack

- A Hand/Head Torch with spare batteries
- UV Protection Sunglasses
- A trekking pole
- Warm Clothes / Thermals
- First Aid Kit
Good trekking shoes are the most important part of the trek, so you have to be very careful before buying it.
- Non-skid deep trod hiking shoes -1
- Pair of light weight Slipper/Sandals -1
- Camera (optional)
- Personal medicine kit. Make sure you consult your doctor before the trek in case you have any special ailment.
