Hampta pass lies on the Pir Panjal range in Himalaya. The base camp for the Hampta Pass trek is Jobra. The Rani Nallah, which you will trek alongside till it disappears under the snow of Hampta Pass, starts accompanying you from here. This pass is used by shepherds of the lower Himalayan region.hampta pass 2

 Waterfalls, hanging glaciers, tiny lakes, and peaks rising above 6000 m are the main attractions of the Hapta Pass trek. The trek is easy and suitable for both beginners and skilled trekkers. You will walk on ice and pass through narrow lanes. The Hampta Pass trek is 35 km and it takes 5-6 days to complete the trek.hampta pass 3

 The level of difficulty will start to increase when you begin the steep climb to Hampta Pass. You will witness the valleys of Lahaul Spiti and also the mountain ranges of Pir Panjal and Spiti. After the Hapta Pass trek, a ride to Chandertal lake in the district of Lahaul & Spiti is a must experience. It is also called as “The Moon Lake.” hampta pass 4

Route

Day 1- Manali to Chika

Day 2- Chika to Balu ka Ghera Siagoru

Day 3- Cross Hampta Pass to Siagoru

Day 4- Siagoru to Chatru

Day 5- Drive to Chandratal 

Day 6 –  Chandratal to Manali.    

What To Pack

Trekking Gear:-

  1. A rucksack with rain cover
  2. A water bottle or a hydration pack
  3. A Hand/Head Torch with spare batteries
  4. UV Protection Sunglasses
  5. A trekking polehampta pass 5

Footwear:-

  1. Non-skid deep trod hiking shoes -1
  2. Pair of lightweight Slipper/Sandals -1

Miscellaneous:-

  1. Camera (optional)
  2. Personal medicine kit. Make sure you consult your doctor before the trek in case you have any special ailment.
  3. Dry fruits, energy bars
